Spiritual Care Coordinator / Bereavement Care Coordinator

For over five years, Kevin has been committed to serving his patients at AseraCare Hospice. Kevin came to AseraCare Hospice with several years of hospice experience as a spiritual care coordinator and a volunteer coordinator. He now serves as Spiritual Care Coordinator and Bereavement Care Coordinator.

In his role as Spiritual Care Coordinator, Kevin is responsible for providing comprehensive pastoral care services to ensure that patients and families are able to use spiritual resources as an effective means of coping and healing. As Bereavement Care Coordinator, he provides supportive bereavement services to ensure patients and families are able to cope with ongoing loss, anticipatory grief, the passing of loved ones and adjustments and healing after a loss has occurred.

Kevin believes that part of providing excellent care to patients is providing service that is grounded in loving patients, families and co-workers. What else is important? “Seeing those whom we serve die with comfort and peace, integrity and dignity, while their loved ones get the support they need to cope with the dying process and death in a healthy and healing manner,” he explains.

He credits his ability to stay current in his discipline with the opportunity to participate in professional meetings, events and conferences. Kevin explains, “Participating on agency and regional-level committees has given me a greater understanding of the complexities of providing quality, comprehensive hospice services.”
