David Friend, M.D.

David Friend, M.D. is President and Chief Medical Officer of
AseraCare Hospice. Most recently, Dr. Friend served as the Chairman
and Chief Executive of the Palladium Group, the global leader in
helping organizations in the areas of strategy, performance
management, analytics and business intelligence.
Prior to joining the Palladium Group, Dr. Friend served as
Managing Director of the Healthcare and Restructuring practice at
Alvarez and Marsal, a global professional services firm that
specializes in financial restructuring. Previously, he spent nine
years at Watson Wyatt Worldwide, a leading financial advisory,
human resources consulting and actuarial firm, where was on the
Board of Directors and held the positions of CEO and Global
Director of Healthcare Consulting, CEO of the U.S. East Operating
Division and Co-CEO of the U.S. Operating Division.
Dr. Friend currently serves on the Board of Health Integrated, a
privately-held care management company, and has served on the
University of Connecticut School of Medicine and its John Dempsey
Teaching Hospital, as well as the Boards of the Schneider Institute
of the Heller School at Brandeis University. He has also served as
an advisor to the National Academy of Sciences Institute of
Medicine and as a Visiting Scientist at the Brigham and Women’s
Hospital Innovation Center for Information Technology.
Dr. Friend earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Brandeis
University, an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of
Pennsylvania and an M.D. from the University of Connecticut School
of Medicine.
